27 - Dopamine agonists, antagonists and depleters
Dopamine agonists :
- dopamine
- bromocriptine
- apomorphine
dopamine is an inhibitor of prolactin release , so these drugs cause a decrease in the plasma level of prolactin and hence are used in the treatment of galactorrhea . Dopamine antagonists :
- metoclopramide
- chlorpromazine
- haloperidol
these drugs cause an increase in the plasma level of prolactin .
Dopamine depleters
- reserpine
- methyldopa
